Red Light Therapy, Sydney
Give your cells a boost of light for more energy and to look and feel better
Red light therapy is similar to infrared light therapy because it emits energy that the body feels as heat. While the naked eye can’t see infrared, you can see the red light produced by a red light-emitting diode (LED).
In 1916, scientists began testing red light therapy to grow plants in outer space when Einstein proposed the phenomenon of stimulated emission. It was discovered that light therapy treatment from the red LEDs helped initiate growth and photosynthesis in the plant cells.
This was a great discovery, so scientists wanted to know if red light therapy treatment could do the same in human cells.
Today, red light therapy is used to treat many skin conditions and ailments in humans, such as wrinkles, cellulite, scars and wounds.
What Are Red Light Therapy Benefits?
The main reasons people undergo red light therapy is to rejuvenate the skin cells and improve skin texture without the damage produced by the sun’s UV rays, for reducing inflammation, acne, pain relief and even wound healing.

Improves Acne
Reduces Wrinkles
Promotes Glowing Skin
Reverses Sun Damage
Reduces Muscle Pain

How Does Red Light Therapy Treatment Work?
When you undergo red light therapy, you expose your skin to the red light. The LED light energy produces a biochemical effect in the cells, strengthening the mitochondria. Optimised mitochondria mean cells have more energy and can rejuvenate themselves and repair any cell damage.
Unlike cosmetic treatments like laser, skin needling or IPL (intense pulsed light) which inflict controlled damage to the skin’s outer layer to induce tissue repair, red light therapy treatment doesn’t damage the skin’s surface. LED light therapy penetrates 5 millimetres beneath the skin’s surface, which directly stimulates the skin to regenerate. Red light therapy doesn’t burn the skin and doesn’t expose the skin to UV rays that can be damaging.

Yes, you can use your regular cleanser to remove your make-up before undergoing red light therapy and continue your skincare routine after the treatment.
Because the treatment is non-invasive, you won’t experience any redness or swelling so you’ll leave looking the same way as when you entered. You can safely apply sunscreen and makeup immediately after treatment.
Skin Cancer is caused by exposure to UV rays, which aren’t present in red lights. Red light treatment can actually be used as a method of preventing skin cancer or rejuvenating skin after the removal of the skin cancer.
The great thing about red light therapy is that you can’t get too much of a good thing. If you can fit in one treatment session a week, that’s perfect, though more consistent use delivers the best results.
